John Clites is a US citizen who went expat in 2008. He currently resides in Brazil, where he  teaches English, principally online, and writes.

John’s principle passion in life is travel. He has visited 49 of the 50 states (Alaska awaits!), most of the Canadian provinces, and approximately 30 foreign countries. John is currently based in Brazil, but he plans to get on the road again in 2019.

Online course: John began teaching online early in 2012. He found that it presented many advantages compared to traditional face-to-face teaching, and migrated toward teaching principally online. He realized that teaching online could be a great full-time or part-time way for retirees, stay-at-home moms, university students, recent grads, digital nomads, and others to earn money while making a positive difference in the lives of their students. So he created “How to teach English online…from anywhere,” hosted on

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.
